Who We Are

DASUBULA AGRO COMPANY LIMITED (DACL) is a small and medium specialty coffee producer with a network of 450 small holder farmers majorly in areas of Mount Elgon in high altitude areas of 1500mtrs to 2500mtrs above sea level in districts of Bududa, Namisindwa, Bulambuli and Kapchorwa with rich volcanic soils that produce excellent Arabica coffee beans and a few other more regions like central Uganda like Masaka, Lwengo who grow Robusta coffee.

We therefore trade majorly in Specialty Arabica and Robusta coffee.

We work along with the farmers and offer support inform of trainings, extension services for social, economic and environmental sustainability.

How many types of coffee are grown in Uganda?

Coffee is grown in five areas: the Central, Western, South-Western, Northern, and Eastern regions. The last one comprises the Busoga regions (Robusta) and the Mountain Elgon region (Arabica). The Northern Region comprises the Mid-North (Robusta) and North-Western region (Arabica & Robusta).

What is the best type of coffee grown in Uganda?

Robusta coffee is native to Uganda and dominates much of the production and exports. Since the mid-1970s though, Arabica coffee production has steadily grown in Uganda.

How many coffee seasons are in Uganda?

Coffee is a perennial crop. However, there are two main harvest seasons in Uganda for both Arabica and Robusta coffee (March-June and September-November). The main production season for Robusta ranges May-August for Masaka and Western regions and November to February for Central, Eastern regions.

How long does coffee take to grow in Uganda?

Coffee takes an average of three years to start producing. The costs of maintaining coffee especially after reaching the flowering stage is quite low.

Why Arabica or Robusta coffee?

Both the varieties of coffee are grown around the world that suit best for each variety. Also, these two varieties have distinctively different flavours to satisfy you. While the Robusta coffee is bitter and bold, the Arabica coffee is sweet and mild. Wherein the two varieties are blended to get the perfect cup.

What is the best climate for coffee?

Optimal coffee-growing conditions include cool to warm tropical climates, rich soils, and few pests or diseases.
